Understandable, considering your kind aren't fond of the kind of chaos that most demons like to bring about.

Considering the Seelie and Unseelie have been locked in a stalemate for ... well, as long as I can remember, I'll admit, and still beyond that - I can certainly believe that demon interference wouldn't help matters at all.

We've been quite occupied, you could say! Oh, there have been the odd demon skirmish that pops up here and there. Some devilish workers, given title and purpose. Nothing to ignore or make light of, but nothing so severe as what you've been snared in.

Of course, I would assume that those who would try to interrupt were either brought about by someone else or were trying to get some sort of foothold of their own. I wouldn't have been surprised if that included some from my Cardinal, as well.

Right now, though, I can only plan and strategize to make sure to protect my legacy and to also stop my son from making any more mistakes.

It does seem to be a fair assumption. I can't say I investigated anything, nor did I see reports on things. Then again, I never did ask.

What a subjective concept, "best roommate". You have done just fine. I have slept in barracks with a dozen snoring men who seemed as though they were trying to collectively raise the dead with the racket they caused. I have been woken up in the dead of night by screams of terrified girls and men with knives, so I really cannot complain here, you understand. I have been quite safe and well rested.

I am glad for it. There are times when speaking things aloud shows a clearer path, yes?

Exactly my reasoning. Talking it out sometimes can uncover ideas or paths that weren't thought of originally.

I may have. It's not an idea or path that I may enjoy, but it might be for the betterment of everyone else, at the very least.

At least, in the sense that it will likely destroy what little relationship with my son that I even have in the first place. Even if it will save his life.

From the point of view of an unfavored son, I would certainly prefer to be alive to try again.

I would as well, from the point of view of a father who wants to do right by my son.
